General Malice is the performance name of producer Clint Harley Ward, who began experimenting with guitars, drum machines, synthesizers and turntables at 14. Local artists and DJs drew him towards jungle and drum and bass. Originally from Minneapolis, he later lived in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. His early releases appeared on Big Cat Recordings in Japan, and a demo brought him to the attention of N2O Records. By 2004, he had released music on Big Cat and N2O, described his style as ragga jungle, and said he represented N2O Recordings, Big Cat Records and Junglistic Pressure.
His 2004 single Launch the Attack / Guns Like Mine featured dancehall artist Wayne Marshall. In 2005, he released 8 Months and 3,500 Miles East Coast to West Coast: Rescued From the G4 - Five Song EP, followed by the album Final Takeover in 2006. His production combines jungle and drum-and-bass with hip-hop influences, ragga vocals and R&B hooks. His music appeared through Big Cat Recordings and Nitrous Oxide Entertainment, which released his work in the United States, as well as N2O Records.
N2O Records released his album The New Era in 2008. He collaborated with DJ Starscream on The New Leader, also performs as Basis, and joined M.I.A. Crew DnB DJs in 2009.
