At 15, Harley D—real name Harley Dennis—was going to raves and playing on the south-coast free-party circuit. From Birchington, near Margate, he moved from that scene into jump-up drum and bass and built a soundsystem called Skanknasty. His production has since ranged across jump-up, deeper drum and bass and techier styles. After a six-year break from releasing music in the mid-2010s, a win in a remix competition with SaSaSaS helped bring him back to releasing tracks. That return led to music on Serial Killaz, Invicta Audio, Grid, Audio Addict and Crucast.
Flexout Audio is another label in Harley D’s release history, including his Deeper EP and the Undertone EP with Scotty. The former includes “Sleepwalking”, a collaboration with Waeys. His releases also include the Rise EP, which came out on Invicta Audio, and the Enter The Rave and Alien EPs. With Konetix, he made the track “Miracle”; with Arkaik, he released the single “Count Us Off”. His work has also appeared on Low Down Deep, adding to a run of releases across labels with different approaches to drum and bass.
In 2020, Harley D released the single “Standing Tall” with Marge on Invicta Audio. He launched Subdue Audio as a paid label in 2023, saying the imprint would give him room to pursue his own ideas while keeping his releases varied. He has also launched Divergent, another label of his own. In 2025, he put out the single “Curse EP” on Sub-liminal Recordings. His label work and his releases on other imprints have accompanied the range of styles he has described, from jump-up to deeper and techier drum and bass.
His 2026 releases include the single “Novus / Initus” on Nyx Recordings, the single “Hidden Beauties” on Divergent DNB, and the single “Inescapable” on RUN. He also released the single “Checktwo” on Flexout Audio that year. The releases connect his work with his own Divergent imprint and labels including Flexout Audio, while Subdue Audio remains a separate label project launched in 2023. Harley D’s recorded collaborations include Scotty, Waeys, Konetix, Arkaik and Marge.
