High Maintenance, producer James Smith, released We Are Four as a single on Epilogue Records in 2009. In 2017, Smith released the singles Keep You Down and Collide on Audioporn Records Ltd. The following year, he issued two more singles on the label, Broken Pieces and Breathe In.
His early involvement in the scene included organizing Brighton drum-and-bass events called Frequency Sessions. He also released music through Audioporn Records and Mainframe Recordings. His Audioporn releases include the single Higher / Running Away. James Smith is now known as Synth System. In 2023, Breathe In (Synth System Remix) appeared on Liquicity Records with Ayah Marar and Synth System.
