Jakwob

Born in Hereford and raised in Lincoln, James Edward Jacob performs as Jakwob, working as a producer, songwriter, DJ and composer. As a teenager, Jacob played in local bands and explored jazz, death metal and folk. A 2009 bootleg of Ellie Goulding’s “Starry Eyed” brought early attention, followed by his remix of “Under the Sheets”, which received BBC Radio 1 airplay. His first event recorded in 2009 was followed by a 2010 single, Here With Me, on Boom Ting Recordings.

Jakwob’s releases have also appeared on Digital Sound Boy and Turbo Recordings. In 2013, Fade, featuring Maiday, reached number 35 on the UK Singles Chart. Later singles include Blind When I Dance, made with Born Dirty and released on Record Record in 2016, and the 2017 single Love Harder (Jakwob Club Mix), with Kyla La Grange. In 2021, Deyah’s Shoreditch Remix (feat. Jakwob) was released as a single.

Jacob composed music for Molly Manning Walker’s 2023 feature film How to Have Sex, his first feature-film score. In an interview, Jakwob said that when remixing he works with the original vocal alone, building new production around it.
