Danny Williamson, known as LTJ Bukem, grew up in Watford, where a music teacher introduced him to jazz fusion. His early DJ sets drew on funk and reggae before he moved towards breakbeat; in 1990, he got a major opportunity to play at Raindance. His track “Logical Progression” came out on the Vinyl Mania imprint. Bukem founded Good Looking Records in 1991, after becoming frustrated with his lack of control over his recordings. The label’s debut release was his track “Demon's Theme”.
Good Looking became closely associated with atmospheric, jazz-influenced drum and bass, and Bukem helped promote a soulful, melodic sound in the UK rave scene. His early tracks “Atlantis” and “Music” offered an alternative to the prevailing hardcore sound. In 2000, Good Looking released his album Journey Inwards. Bukem’s later releases include the 2021 single “Flip the Narrative”, on Drum&BassArena, and the 2021 single “Homecoming (LTJ Bukem Remix)”, released on Anjunabeats with Above & Beyond.
