After attending a Star Warz event in Ghent in his twenties, Belgian producer and DJ M-zine, whose real name is Joeri Deyaert, became interested in drum & bass. His influences include techno, hip-hop, soul and funk. An early release was the 2011 single Peristaltic/Riddance on Proximity Recordings. In 2012, he put out his first vinyl on Swiss label Demand Records. His early work also included collaborations with Belgian producer Scepticz, before he began pursuing solo projects in 2018.
He has said he had been releasing with Dispatch Recordings for years. His releases also include work for 31 Recordings, Commercial Suicide and Critical Recordings. The Umbra EP was made for Dispatch Recordings and contains the tracks “Umbra” and “Loon.” M-zine has described his production as sample-based, with the aim of using computers to capture the sound of the 1990s. He has also released the Axis EP with Atmospherix on ThirtyOne Recordings.
M-zine collaborated with Belgian trio Bredren on a release that reached the top of the Beatport charts. Other joint work includes the Trepid EP with Jumpat on Midas Touch Recordings. In 2023, he released the album Know When You're Ready on Sofa Sound. The 2023 single Berate came out on Subtitles Music, and the 2024 single I Try EP was released on Soul In Motion Records.
In 2025, M-zine released the single TKB on Sofa Sound. He played Sala Siroco on 20 June 2026. In 2026, he released the Scatty EP with BassDubbers on Mustard Music LTD.
