Merikan

Guiliano Gronholz, who records and DJs as Merikan, began going to hardcore raves early in life, where electronic dance music became a growing interest. Drum & bass was among the styles that drew him in, alongside psytrance and dubstep. In 2011, Gronholz enrolled at Point Blank in London to study music production and technology. Early releases included the Flipside EP on Disturbed Recordings and the Metamorphosis EP on Close 2 Death Recordings. A 2012 single, Trained to Battle, came out on Suspect Device Productions. Merikan is based in Italy and works as both a producer and a DJ.

Merikan’s music is associated with neurofunk, hard-hitting drum & bass and metal-inspired electronic music. After releases on Disturbed and Close2Death, his work appeared on Cause4Concern Recordings and PRSPCT Recordings. Other labels connected to his releases include Eatbrain, Blackout Music NL, MethLab Recordings, Evolution Chamber and Hoofbeats Music. Merikan joined Pythius for “Chimaera” and Gancher & Ruin for “Boss Fight”; a separate 2024 release paired Merikan with Pythius on Ultimatum (Merikan Remix), issued by PRSPCT Recordings. He also worked with IHR on DEAD END, a release associated with the development of his aggressive sound.

In 2025, Merikan played at Sklub for an event presented by Hoofbeats Music. His 2026 appearances included BASIS in May, Óbuda Bay in March and A38 in September. His album Nightreign arrived in 2026 on Blackout Music, with collaborations involving Audio, Gancher & Ruin and Disprove. Evolution Chamber released the 2026 single Face Off / Hades. His other 2026 remix work included Killer (Merikan Remix) with Donny and Katharsys on Barcode Recordings, and Neva Stop (Merikan Remix) with Tigrane on Dub Shotta. Blackout Music NL released Chimaera (RAIDO Remix) with RAIDO in 2026.
