NC-17

Toronto-based Peter Aldanmaz began releasing drum and bass as NC-17 in the early 2000s. His first release was the track Slug Path on DSCI4 Recordings. In 2010, he released the single Just Heroes with Nusense on Viper Recordings. His music draws on the classic 1996–2002 era of drum and bass, while film and film composers have also shaped his approach. He has described that combination as bringing a throwback sensibility to contemporary drum and bass.

Aldanmaz founded the Toronto label Grindhouse Audio in 2012, and its releases have included tracks by State of Mind, The Upbeats, Mr Explicit and Smooth. His own releases have appeared on Metalheadz, Viper Recordings, Renegade Hardware, RAM Records, Symmetry and CIA. His Metalheadz EPs include Gravity Falls, Winter Sleep and State of Grace. He worked with Steve Replicant on the track City On Fire, released alongside Mr Saturday Night on Viper Recordings. Other label credits include LionDub International and Formation.

During the pandemic, NC-17 made three connected albums with Ant TC1 and Goldie. Released from 2021 in three parts, the Most Violent Year trilogy has 13 tracks in each part. The project appeared as an album trilogy on Dispatch Recordings. In 2021, Aldanmaz also released the single Enter the Void on Bad Taste Recordings; the following year brought the single Carte Blanche Remixed on Rebel Music. His collaboration with Dauntless, the album Short Cuts, was written and produced by Aldanmaz and Bill Kang, and released on Dispatch Recordings.

In 2024, NC-17 released the single Horns (NC-17 Remix) with Future Cut on Renegade Hardware. The 2025 single Act Of Rage VIP / Teorema appeared on Metalheadz. His 2026 album No One Lives Forever features guest appearances from Dub Head, Leaf, Myth and Philth, and was released on Dispatch Recordings.
