Numa Crew is a Florence-founded Italian collective of DJs, producers and MCs, formed in 2005 by members Ago, Lapo, Leon P, Ninjaz MC and XL Mad. It became part of Italy’s dubstep scene, drawing on musical backgrounds that include jungle, drum and bass, hip-hop and reggae alongside dubstep and grime. The crew has said it moved into dubstep production after getting involved in DJing and promoting at an early Italian club with a dubstep residency.
The crew established Erba Records, Voodoo Rebel and Digital Smokerz. Voodoo Rebel was created to explore global-bass influences across dubstep, UK bass, house and dancehall. Numa Crew has also released music through Innamind Recordings, Moonshine Recordings and Chinese Man Records, including Dub Searcher EP on Moonshine Recordings. Its collaborations and remixes have included Dub FX, Horace Andy and DJ Vadim, and it has worked with Zion Train and Dub Sync. In 2009, the crew released the single Numa Crew EP on FOULPLAY Records INC.
The album New Underground Massive Alliance, released on Liondub International, features Dub FX and Mr. Lexx. The crew described it as its first collaborative LP, following years of singles and remixes. In 2018, Numa Crew launched Numa Recordings with “We Nuh Tek Talk,” a single featuring Killa’s Army. The crew has also worked with Daddy Freddy, General Levy and Taiwan MC. Numa Crew collaborated with Killa’s Army on “Badman Ting,” created in the crew’s Florence studio, and Ago remixed the track.
In 2023, Numa Crew released “No Solution (Numa CREW JUNGLE Remix)” with Luciano and Sugar Minott, and “Bun Dem Down” on System Music. Its 2024 release “One Love (Numa Crew & Fleck Remix)” was made with Fleck. In 2026, “Dubplate Theory” appeared on Numa Recordings, followed by “lovers anthem (Lapo & Numa Crew Remix)” with DJ Vadim, Mikeylous and XL Mad on King Dada Sounds.
