Brothers Scott and Ryan Wild formed Phibes as a UK drum-and-bass duo, building an early audience through SoundCloud and self-released music. The pair said that, in their early days, no labels wanted to put out their work. The EP Third Dimension is a four-track release on Born on Road. They also made an official remix of Toots & The Maytals’ “54 46” for the Jungle Cakes and Trojan Records series. The duo’s music brings drum and bass together with other bass-music styles. Their early SoundCloud following brought wider attention in the rave scene.
In 2019, Phibes released the album Unite, then followed it with Unite Remixed on their own label, Phat Planet. Phat Planet was launched as a platform for music by artists the brothers support. Their remix of Beat Assassins’ “Home Grown” reached the overall number-one position on Beatport in August 2020. The single “Home Grown” also reached Beatport’s Drum & Bass all-genres number one that August.
Phibes have released music on Born on Road, Jungle Cakes and Korsakov Music, as well as their own Phat Planet. The single Raw 2 the Floor EP came out on Bombstrikes in 2017. They have performed at Glastonbury and Boomtown, and toured New Zealand, Australia and Canada. In 2025, the single Limit appeared on Bassrush Records. That year also brought Empire feat. Flowdan (Phibes 2025 VIP), released on Westwood Recordings with Stickybuds and The Funk Hunters. In 2024, Phibes played at The Meadows in Brooklyn.
In 2026, Phibes appeared with Benny Page, Dope Ammo and Sub Zero on the album Dope Ammo - Drum N Bass - Vol 3, released on Dope Ammo Records. The duo released the single Killa Sound on Jungle Cakes and the single Blowin Up (DnB Flip) on Phat Planet that year.
