In 2009, SKisM emerged on the dubstep scene, bringing high-energy DJ sets and technical mixing across multiple decks. The stage name belongs to British producer and DJ Thomas Stephen Petais, also known as Tommy Dash, who is based in the United Kingdom. Before working as SKisM, Petais performed as Dash in the breakbeat duo Ctrl-Z. The first EP under the SKisM name was Rise of the Idiots / Back Off, released in September 2009. His releases also include the EP Down with the Kids on Never Say Die Records. His 2009 single The Blank came out on Wicky Lindows.
SKisM co-founded Never Say Die Records and Disciple Records, and worked as A&R for Never Say Die, helping bring Zomboy and Eptic to wider attention. His remix of Porter Robinson’s “The State” appeared on the first release from OWSLA. With Excision, he made “sEXisM”, which appeared on an Excision album on Mau5trap. “Jump Back”, a single with Flux Pavilion featuring vocals from Foreign Beggars, added another collaboration to his work. SKisM also joined Habstrakt and Megalodon for the single “Jaguar”. His releases include the EP The Division.
SKisM retired from music production in 2015, then officially retired from DJing and producing in 2021. His work for Never Say Die also included A&R responsibilities, alongside co-founding the label. Disciple Records was the other label he co-founded. The 2021 retirement marked the end of his DJ and producer activity.
