Manchester-based producer Alex Lowther-Harris makes music as THUGWIDOW, an alias associated with jungle and drum and bass. Lowther-Harris describes the project’s approach as ambient breakbeat and jungle made with digital software. The first album, Dead Colony, arrived on KUDATAH in 2017. That year also brought Major Stabz, an album on Lifted Contingency. THUGWIDOW’s releases have appeared on KUDATAH, TAR, Astral Black, Sneaker Social Club, Western Lore and Badlands, as well as BLCR Laboratories and Dred Collective. THUGWIDOW is also based in the United Kingdom. The music has been associated with spacey, sci-fi jungle and darker, cinematic styles in dreampunk.
In 2018, THUGWIDOW collaborated with Sangam on the album The Holy City Is Empty. The 2020 album Requiem For a Sesh followed, then the EP Post Modern in 2021, released on Sneaker Social Club. Western Lore released the EP Hard Rave Aesthetic, while Warehouse Rave put out Authentic Experience. THUGWIDOW also worked with Bruised Skies on the track “Thrashing, Scared, Alone” in 2021, before the pair’s 2022 release Blimey. Hooversound Recordings released that album with Bruised Skies. The 2022 album Seventh Circle of Litness came out alongside that period of activity.
THUGWIDOW collaborated with Dead Man’s Chest on Forgotten Paradise 2 and on the track “How U Wanna (Jungle Edit)”. In November 2022, Badlands released the EP Archetypical. The EP An Otherwise Perfect Sky came out on Bukva Sound in 2023, the same year as the single “Ephemera (Thugwidow Remix)”, with Lapalace, on Insult To Injury. THUGWIDOW’s releases have also appeared on House of the Leg and RuffKutz.
Western Lore released the single “Contaminated Genome” in 2025. In March 2026, THUGWIDOW released the album SWUN SUNGZ; its accompanying text says the project is coming to an end.
