In the early 2000s, Brazilian producer Amon Tobin began Two Fingers with British producer Joe Chapman, who records as Doubleclick. The project gave Tobin a name for bass-focused electronic music, distinct from his work under Amon Tobin, Figueroa and Only Child Tyrant. While living in Montreal, Tobin and Chapman developed the sound using production techniques associated with UK styles such as drum & bass, applied to hip hop. Two Fingers has been associated with Brazil, and its releases have appeared on Ninja Tune and Big Dada.
The pair’s self-titled album arrived in 2009 on Big Dada, with UK vocalist Sway among its guests. Sway recorded seven tracks with the project; Ms Jade and Cecile voiced the remaining rhythms. That same year, Two Fingers released the single What You Know on Big Dada. Chapman left in 2010, and the project became Tobin’s solo effort. The change was reflected in 2012 with Stunt Rhythms, the first Two Fingers release produced solely by Tobin after Chapman’s departure. Released as an album on Big Dada, it marked the project’s second album.
Tobin released the Six Rhythms EP in 2015. Two Fingers later worked with Ivy Lab on the 2019 single “Orange”, then released the album Fight! Fight! Fight! in 2020. Tobin said that learning more about the music’s structures was part of developing that album. In 2021, Two Fingers released Apashe’s “Uebok (Two Fingers Remix)” on Kannibalen Records. The 2022 single “Puma Rhythm” brought together Tobin and Thys on Eccentric O; that year also saw the singles “Banished” and “Lost Gods” with Muadeep.
In 2023, Tobin and Thys released “Hodo: Redo” on Vision Recordings, while “Golden” came out on Alpha Pup. Two Fingers also released Cronos, made with Muadeep, that year. The project is among the artists on Tobin’s Nomark label, which released the 2026 single “Hi Tec Tecs”.
