In 2007, Unquote, the alias of Russian producer Vsevolod Ermakov, began making music through experiments with different styles of drum and bass. Ermakov is from Saint Petersburg, and Unquote is his drum & bass project. The music developed towards a deeper, soulful approach to drum and bass, with deep dubstep and atmospheric textures also part of the sound. In 2009, Unquote released Ugly Face Of War on Alphacut, an early release that arrived the same year as work with producer Mr Sizef.
Their collaboration, “Hours Have No Reverse Motion”, appeared on Hospital Records’ 2009 compilation The Future Sound Of Russia. In 2010, Unquote remixed Bop’s “Enjoy The Moment” for Med School. That year also brought Unquote’s Med School single, featuring “Hide Your Tears Because We Are In Heaven” and “Lubov Moya”, made with Molecular Structures. Unquote has worked with Mr Sizef on other occasions, while Hospital Records, Alphacut and Med School are among the labels to release the producer’s music.
