Total Science have been a cornerstone of drum and bass since its inception. Originally known as Funky Technicians, they rebranded as Total Science and soon launched their influential C.I.A. Records imprint, later expanding with sister label Advanced and its Sektor series, which championed emerging talent and kept the focus on music over image.
Their labels helped spotlight future stars like Friction, Mathematics, Baron, and Bungle, while Total Science's own tracks, such as the genre-defining Nosher remix and their Mars Needs Total Science LP, cemented their reputation for both innovation and dancefloor power.
They’ve released on esteemed labels like Metalheadz, Hospital Records, Soul:r, Critical, and Shogun Audio, and collaborated with leading artists including S.P.Y, Break, Digital, Spirit, War, Jubei, and DLR. Major releases like Big Time Winners and Betamax hit #1 on Beatport, showcasing their continued relevance.
With a legacy of global tours, festival sets (Glastonbury, Sun & Bass, Let It Roll), and consistent radio support, Total Science remain a vital force in drum and bass, respected for their genre-spanning sound, forward-thinking collaborations, and commitment to evolving and maintaining a credible scene.
