Plot 22

Plot 22 was a creative venue in Sheffield’s Castlegate district at 20-22 Exchange Street, set up by RiteTrax in May 2017 in a former betting shop. Co-founders Mike Thompson and Adam Seymour first considered the space for offices and studios, then developed it for music and club nights. RiteTrax, a social enterprise, managed the venue, which had room for about 100 people. In its first 15 months it hosted more than 50 events, from gigs and club nights to exhibitions and workshops.

Artist studios formed part of the venue, and the upstairs studios also housed Kitchen Radio. Its programme included electronic and bass music, punk and metal, alongside underground nights spanning drum and bass, jungle, house, garage and electro. Duskee, Monrroe and Sola are among the artists who played there. A no-phones rule applied on the dancefloor. Following noise complaints, Plot 22 closed for renovation work that included soundproofing; its last event took place in August 2018.
