UNDERCITY presents Friction

A living legend of the UK Drum & Bass scene, FRICTION makes his South Korean debut at UNDERCITY.

With over two decades of influence on Drum & Bass, FRICTION is the founder of the iconic labels Shogun Audio and Elevate Records, and a 2011 inductee into the Drum&BassArena Hall of Fame.

Recognized alongside pioneers such as Andy C and Goldie as one of the genre's most influential figures, he spent six years hosting BBC Radio 1's iconic Drum & Bass Show, introducing audiences worldwide to the genre's evolving sounds.

Since founding Shogun Audio in 2004, FRICTION has played a defining role in shaping the Drum & Bass scene. With tracks such as "Dare" and "Your Love," he has established himself as a formidable producer, while official remixes for Childish Gambino, The Prodigy, Sam Smith, and Fatboy Slim have extended his reach beyond the genre. More recently, his track "Never Know (Love You So)" was named BBC Radio 1's Hottest Record, further cementing his enduring influence.

Having performed at some of the world's most renowned festivals, including Glastonbury, Tomorrowland, EDC Las Vegas, and Boomtown, FRICTION is currently embarking on SYNERGY TOUR, his biggest world tour to date.

His first-ever performance in South Korea also marks UNDERCITY's first Drum & Bass curation.

For this special night, local artists will bring their own distinct styles to the floor, exploring the full spectrum of Drum & Bass, from Jump Up and Dancefloor to Jungle, Neurofunk, and Liquid. Breakbeat and Bass influences will further expand the sonic landscape, with each artist bringing a different texture and energy to the dancefloor.

Having built its musical identity around Techno, UNDERCITY now expands its curatorial vision into Drum & Bass for the very first time.

Bringing together FRICTION, an artist who has helped shape the genre's history, and local artists pushing its sound in new directions, this night explores the diverse energies and possibilities within a single genre.

또한 Childish Gambino, The Prodigy, Sam Smith, Fatboy Slim 등의 공식 리믹스를 통해 활동 영역을 확장했으며, 최근에는 BBC Radio 1의 Hottest Record로 선정된 〈Never Know (Love You So)〉를 발표하며 현재진행형의 영향력을 이어가고 있다.
