Austrian producer Jay Rome established Blu Saphir in 2004 as a drum and bass label. Its releases span neurofunk and soulful liquid sounds, and its roster includes Dave Owen, Silence Groove and Random Movement. Blu Saphir Music Group is based in Vienna, Austria, and Digital Blus is the label’s sister imprint. Blu Saphir Recordings was set up to widen the range of sounds within drum and bass.
In 2007, Blu Saphir issued Chino and Submorphics’ single Jade Sunrise / Revisions and introduced a digital imprint for emerging drum and bass producers. Tracks on that imprint could be considered for vinyl release by the parent label. The label’s seventh record, released by 2008, featured The Ego, Bungle, DJ Roots and Ill Esha. Later releases came from IAMDOOMED, Muffler and Children of Our Stars, among others. Jay Rome also launched the related house label Sync:Saphir with producer Syncopix in 2009. In 2025, Blu Saphir released Nostalgia (IAMDOOMED Remix) by Children of Our Stars and IAMDOOMED.
