Based in the United Kingdom, Direct Recordings began in 2001, launched by DJs Nicol and Ollie. The label focuses on drum and bass, putting out music by newer acts as well as established artists. It waited until suitable tracks came along before releasing music. Majistrate and Jaydan are among the artists whose recordings appeared on the label, alongside Ego Trippin' and Ravager. Its releases run from 2001 to 2020.
Direct Recordings issued Majistrate’s single Show U in 2006, followed by Jaydan’s Tek Nah Talk in 2018. Other releases include Big Sound and Funk Foo / Chavy Chase.
