Nick Santillan founded Guidance Recordings in Chicago in 1996. The label released drum and bass that blended hip-hop, reggae and jazz, with deep and techstep sounds in the mix, and artists associated with it included Roni Size, Photek, DJ Krush and Carl Craig.
In its later life as Guidance Music, the label issued Ulterior Motive’s 001EP in 2017, Tyrone’s Severance EP in 2019 and Walk:r’s Oscillate EP in 2020. M-zine’s Niatbo EP and Invadhertz’s Pitch Black EP followed in 2022, and Quadrant and Creatures also released music there. Guidance Music has since been rebranded as Guidelines, based in London.
