Kartoons is a London drum and bass label launched in 1997 as an offshoot of Blackmarket Records, the Soho shop and label run by Nicky Blackmarket, who owned Kartoons from the start. It grew out of the mid-1990s scene as jungle was turning into drum and bass.
Its releases moved through jungle, early liquid, techstep and jump-up, with music from DJ Hazard, Benny Page, Serum and TNT. TNT's 2 Degrees, issued in 1997, became the label's biggest-selling record.
In 2016 Kartoons put out Fusion, a single by Nicky Blackmarket and Voltage. Nicky Blackmarket now runs the label as a digital operation.
