Liqüid Series is a liquid drum and bass label and project based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, with a focus on soulful and funky sounds. Romanian DJ and producer Detour, also known as Vlej Zsombor Barna, founded it in spring 2018 to help Romanian artists share mixes and original productions. The project’s first recorded mix came out in late October 2018, while its music releases began in 2020. On 27 October of that year, Detour’s “Sunshine” was the first original track issued by the project.
The label’s debut EP, Winter Soul EP, arrived on 15 January 2021, with six tracks by Romanian producers including Detour, Scatterbrain, Sub:liminal and Rezilient. Other 2021 releases were Free Mind, Back To You and the Endless Summer compilation, alongside SOLR’s single “Missing You.” From April 2021, Liqüid Series partnered with distributor Triple Vision and signed UK artists Bazil MC and SOLR. The project marked its third anniversary in October 2021, and SOLR and Sub:liminal are among the artists whose music it has released.
