Established in 2012 by Tony Labrum and Gary Wilson, the duo Roklo, Mayan Audio began as a collective of drum and bass artists. Its name draws on the Mayan calendar prophecy that the world would end in 2012. Presented as a new imprint in 2014, the label has released drum and bass in neurofunk, dancefloor and liquid styles.
Manta, Mean Teeth, NickBee and Shyun are among the artists whose music has appeared on the label. Its debut was a Tuff Touch single that gained early support from BBC Radio 1Xtra. Later singles included Move, by Lauren Cole and Shyun, in 2016, and Manta’s Corvus / Cold Sand in 2019; Exile’s The After Death also came out in 2019.
In 2016, Mayan Audio issued the compilations Mayan Audio Presents 2016 and Mayan Audio Summer Drum & Bass 2016, the latter on August 15.
