Nuusic was founded in 2017 by a collective of artists and music fans, with drum and bass at the centre of its output. Based in Manchester, the label is co-owned by Joe Mac and Dylan, who performs as Rafiki Dubs. It grew from a music-sharing platform into a club night and record label, with an events and production project also part of its beginnings. Back-to-back DJ sets by its founders helped shape the label, which was created to support the music played at events and give producers more exposure.
Conrad Subs, Disrupta, Slay and RMS are among the artists released on Nuusic. Conrad Subs’ 2018 single The Rumble was followed by the four-track The Hearse EP from Margaman that year. The label issued its first artist album, Conrad Subs’ Mercury Rising, in 2020, after earlier compilations. Ragga jungle with reggae and dancehall influences sits alongside drum and bass in the label’s musical range. Later releases include the two-part compilation 8 Years of Nuusic, Goldstone Life LP and Conrad Subs and Freddy B’s 2023 single Dance In The Rain (Conrad Subs Remix).
