Skutta Records is based in Birmingham, UK; LA Johnson and Baddesley are its label bosses. Its releases span drum and bass, bass music and dub, including 2014 singles by Resound and Mystic State: “Rare Species” and “Oversight”. That year also brought Future Roots’ “Root Defender” and the label’s first Jazzatron record, the Jazzatron EP, featuring “In Plastic”, “Achab”, “Enza2” and “Suck My Soul”.
The label’s later EPs included “Stand Tall” in March 2016 and “Deeply Rooted” in September, followed in 2018 by “The Apparition” in June and “The Abattoir” in July. The Apparition EP was credited to DYL and Nic TVG, while The Abattoir EP featured Threshold, Jedi Hi-Fi and JMist. In 2015, Skutta Records joined forces with the Rupture crew for an event at PST Digbeth.
