The Chikara Project

The Chikara Project is a Bristol-based label founded in 2017 by drum-and-bass duo Mystic State, who run and curate it. Initially formed to issue music by Mystic State, Third Degree and Elias, it began with drum and bass before widening its scope to bass-oriented electronic styles. Its sound draws on jungle, dubstep and breakbeat, alongside other electronic music with an organic character. The label also holds live events and club nights.

Its releases include Mystic State and Third Degree’s 2017 single “Viewpoint,” and the “Closer” EP by Mystic State and Congi, which features “Kaleidoscope.” Work by Hyrah and Zar has also appeared on the label. On September 4, 2020, it released Mystic State’s debut solo album, My Own Private Island. The multi-artist compilation Connections Vol. 2 followed on January 6, 2023.
