Dispatch Limited welcomes Sequences back to the label with Terminus, an eight-track EP shaped by three years of experimentation, reinvention and personal change.
Written across Colombia and France, the project represents a natural progression from Sequences' previous work for the label, retaining his distinctive less-is-more approach while exploring a wider range of moods and rhythmic ideas. Changes in workflow and production technique saw several tracks repeatedly dismantled, rebuilt and reimagined, with Sequences working closely alongside Ant TC1 to refine the final selection.
The EP's central theme reflects the difficult choices, unexpected circumstances and uncertain routes that life presents. This is expressed most personally through tracks such as opener 'Unbreakable', while the title and accompanying artwork extend the concept further. Photographed by Sequences in France, the image depicts one path leading into darkness and another towards the unknown. Graffiti reading 'Terminus' appears beside the darker route, suggesting what might await at the end of the wrong path.
Longstanding remote collaborator Slippy Skills features on two contrasting versions of 'Step Up'. After the original production was lost to hardware failure, Sequences reconstructed the track using salvaged vocals and ideas from an earlier save. That process also prompted a second interpretation: the forward-moving 'Rollers Mix', paired here with the heavier and more ominous 'Dark Mix'.
Between the resolve of 'Unbreakable', the shifting tension of 'Time To Leave' and 'Lantern', and the direct pressure of 'Race To The Bottom' and 'Shutdown', Terminus captures an artist refining his sound while navigating a period of substantial change.
Speaking on the release, Dispatch founder Ant TC1 said:
'It's been a long time in the works, but sometimes when the end vision is met, it's all been worth it. I've always been a fan of Sequences' less-is-more approach and the clear originality in his music. I'm really happy to be releasing music from him again and pleased to say there's more in the pipeline after this EP'.
