DJ SS is one of the UK’s best producers and DJs and one of the founders of the Formation label. SS is a pioneer of the breakbeat scene who made an enormous contribution to the development of the drum and bass sound. He is one of the few people who managed to remain at the top from the very beginning of drum and bass’s development, thanks to his tremendous work and devotion to the music he loves. At the dawn of the hardcore scene DJ SS and his partner Eidris began putting on their own parties under the collective name Total Kaos every Friday in their hometown of Leicester. In the summer of 1991, they organized one of the biggest indoor parties of the time in Donington Park, attended by around 6,000 people.
To date, DJ SS has a huge number of tracks under various names to his credit. He has released more than 100 records on Formation Records, along with numerous remixes and collaborations with other musicians. DJ SS’s best-known releases include “The Psycho EP”, “Rhythm For Reasons”, “Breakbeat Pressure”, the drum and bass anthem “Black” and the famous “Lighter”, which became a bestseller for Formation Records. At present, DJ SS spends his time constantly touring around the world and working on new material in the studio. He has toured Europe, Australia, Canada, the United States, and Japan. In his free time, DJ SS devotes himself to football; he is a Manchester United fan and a player for a local team.
