Bastion’s 2021 single Shapes featured Catching Cairo and Fade Black. Bastion is the producer name of an electronic music project built around storytelling in an original fictional world; the artist says each song takes inspiration from an event, place, character or relationship within that setting. The story imagines humanity’s collapse, nature reclaiming the world and a small number of people surviving. The artist began producing music at 19 and has named Flume, What So Not, Hudson Mohawke and Porter Robinson as major inspirations.
A remix of Jax Jones and MNEK’s Where Did You Go? followed in 2022, released as a single on Polydor Records. In 2024, Bastion and Fade Black released the single Radio (VIP) on UKF. The 2025 single Open Season, also on UKF, brought together Bastion, Catching Cairo, Fade Black and LZee; that year’s single Mars paired Bastion with GCA, while Voicemail featured Fade Black and Grace Barton on Liquicity Records. Bastion played Liquicity Festival at Geestmerambacht in July 2025.
