Steve Jefroy began releasing drum and bass as BCee in 2001, the same year he and Doug Kubiks launched Rubik. Before founding Spearhead Records, Jefroy started Rubik with Kubiks; the pair also made the Evolution EP. In 2005, Jefroy established Spearhead, which has given early releases to Hybrid Minds, Netsky, LSB, Alix Perez, Lenzman, Redeyes and Pola & Bryson. His work as BCee spans production, DJing and songwriting, and he is based in Palgrave, UK.
BCee has worked with vocalists and producers across drum and bass, including Robert Owens, Hybrid Minds, S.P.Y, Riya, Bladerunner and Rocky Nti. He and Villem collaborate as The Vanguard Project, while Charlotte Haining has appeared on several of BCee’s tracks. Their single “The Hills” came out on Spearhead Records. BCee also made the 2020 album Life As We Know It with Haining. His production approach draws on samples, and he has discussed using jungle basslines in his music.
On 12 November 2021, BCee released the album This Time Next Year, with contributions from DRS, Solah, Logistics, Hybrid Minds and Charlotte Haining. In discussing collaboration, he named Nu:Tone as his favourite artist to work with and Dan Gresham as an important creative sounding board. In 2025, he released the single “Funny How” on SUNANDBASS Recordings and joined Emba and René LaVice on the single “Count On You (BCee x Emba Remix)” for Device.
BCee’s 2026 releases include the single “Seal The Deal” on UKF and “What You're Missing”, a single with Javeon on Drum&BassArena. He also released “Lemon (BCee Remix)” as a single on Liquicity Records. In September 2026, he played fabric, appearing at an event hosted there by UKF. Spearhead remains the label he founded and runs, following the earlier start of Rubik with Kubiks.
