Birmingham, Alabama is home to producer Black Carl!, the stage name of Carl Bell. His name came from a nickname he had in high school. Bell began by trying to make riddim, then discovered electronic music through Camo & Krooked; seeing Skrillex perform later inspired him to take up performing himself. He describes his music as a meeting of softer, emotional elements and heavy bass, and says he tries to put his feelings into it. His 2017 single Rise was released under the Black Carl! name.
Bell and fellow Birmingham producer VCTRE formed the duo Integrate after making music and performing together. They had begun collaborating early in their producing careers, and Bell describes VCTRE as a close friend. He also worked with Saka on the Rush Hour EP and its accompanying tour, and released the Fallen Petal EP with Player Dave. His releases also include the Mixed Signals EP and the album Music Over Virtually Everything. Bell has named Modus, Memory Palace and Vision Recordings as labels he hoped to release music on.
In 2025, Bell released the single Lost (Black Carl! Remix) with Cherub and Maddy O'Neal, and the single Windchimes with Integrate and VCTRE. That year also brought the single Get Your Fix, made with Leotrix. In 2026, he released the single Act a Fool with HAWAII SLIM and the single Nonstop with NIK P.
