Free parties and raves in rural Mid Wales introduced Dan Guy to dance music before he began producing around 1998. Under the name Dan Guidance, Guy went on to become a Bristol-based drum-and-bass producer and DJ, living in the city for around 15 years. His 2008 single Dan Man Say So appeared on Asbo Audio. His first EP, Introspection, came out on Point Audio in 2011.
Dan Guidance has released music through Soul Deep, Offworld Recordings, Liquid Drops and Omni Music, among other labels. The EP The Mindstream appeared on Omni Music, while Portal Recordings issued Winter Wilderness. Guy runs Portal Recordings, a label focused on atmospheric liquid drum and bass. His releases on Technique, Fokuz and Flight Pattern add further label credits. Portal Recordings also released his album Freedom Of Movement. His music spans drum and bass and breaks, often with dreamy, atmospheric textures.
Credits include collaborations with Blade, Fishy, Marvel Cinema and Neuron, as well as Matt View, T:Base, Twintone and Professor Funk. With Twintone, he made the track “Sugar Coat”. His work with Alex Barton includes the EP New Dawn, while Visions is an EP made with Neuron. His collaboration credits also include Salem Focus. In 2025, Dan Guidance released the two-track Evolutionary Vision / Sustain through Stepping Forward Records. That year, he also released Neural Circuit EP with Neuron on Fokuz Recordings, Thousands Of Deer on Fourseason, and Floating With Me EP with Fluid Form and Professor Funk on Influenza Media.
