Dead Man’s Chest is the jungle and drum-and-bass project of Alex Eveson, a Bristol-based producer, DJ and visual artist who grew up in Glastonbury. Eveson began collecting rave tapes at around 11, and has said that jungle mixtapes shaped the project’s sound and its interest in recreating the atmosphere of those mixes. Early jungle and rave influences, breakbeats and dub informed its direction.
Eveson began releasing music as Dead Man’s Chest in 2014 and later launched Western Lore, a Bristol-based label for his music and visual art, as well as releases by other artists. His work has appeared on Ingredients Records and Western Lore; releases include the Dreamscapes EP on Ingredients Records and Lo-Freq Soul on Western Lore. He has also worked with Coco Bryce on a split single for Diamond Life.
Collaborations include work with THUGWIDOW on the album Forgotten Paradise 2. Eveson also released the EP We All Go A Little Mad Sometimes with Posse. In September 2026, Dead Man’s Chest played at Atno.
