DJ Rap, the stage name of Charissa Saverio, started out as an acid-house DJ before moving into hardcore, jungle and drum and bass. She learnt her craft as an engineer and became a DJ, producer, recording artist and actor. Her own website describes her as an electronic-music artist active before jungle had a name. She released the 1993 single Vertigo (Q Bass Remixes) on Suburban Base. DJ Rap later put out the album Learning Curve on Sony, followed by Synthesis. A release of “Spiritual Aura” helped lead to the creation of Proper Talent, one of the labels she founded and runs alongside Improper Talent.
Her later singles include “Together - Georgie Riot Remix”, made with Dope Ammo and released on Dope Ammo Records in 2023, and “DJ Rap vs. Reedy D - In My Brain”, which came out on Shaboom Records in 2024. That year she also joined Freestylers and Project 5 on “Happiness (Remixed)”, released on Mama's Pie. At The Fox and Firkin in 2026, DJ Rap played alongside Decibella, Gaia and Betsy Mae. A 2026 interview discussed the single “Zeitgeist” and collaborations with General Levy and Tippa Irie. Her 2026 singles include “One Door”, with Tippa Irie on Propa Talent, and “Looking Through The Glass (DJ Rap Liquid DnB Remix)”, with Sacha Robotti on DIRTYBIRD.
