Evol Intent is an Atlanta-based drum-and-bass trio comprising Knick (Nick Weiller), Gigantor (Mike Diasio) and The Enemy (Ashley Jones). Knick and Gigantor met while studying at the University of Alabama and later recruited The Enemy online. In 2000, Knick and Gigantor started Evol Intent Recordings as an outlet for their productions and music by like-minded artists; The Enemy joined shortly afterward. The group has roots in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Atlanta, Georgia, where the trio is based.
Evol Intent released music through its own label and through Renegade Hardware, Barcode, Outbreak and Human Imprint, as well as Lifted Music. The trio became a permanent part of Renegade Hardware’s Barcode Records roster and released an EP on Renegade Hardware. In 2008, the group put out its album Era of Diversion. Its label also released music by other artists. Evol Intent made remixes for Dieselboy’s The Dungeon Masters Guide, including one of a track by BT.
The trio collaborated with Ewun on “Headcase” and “The Rapture,” and with Noisia on “The Liquid” and “Long Gone.” It also worked with Dave Liebman and Bill Laswell’s Method of Defiance project on “Pattern Engine,” released on the album Inamorata. Evol Intent provided a continuous mix for the second CD of Dieselboy’s compilation The Human Resource. Gigantor has cited rock, indie, punk, hip-hop, trip-hop, IDM and drum-and-bass artists—including Tech Itch, Kemal, Dom and Roland, and Dillinja—as influences. The members also make music under other names: Knick as Bro Safari, The Enemy as Treasure Fingers, and Gigantor as Computer Club.
In 2022, Evol Intent released “Long Gone (Audio Remix)” as a single on Vision Recordings with Audio. In 2024, the group released the single Where's The Score (Evol Intent Remix, KILL SAFARI REREMIX) on Evol Intent Recordings with Bro Safari and Kill The Noise.
