Flava D is the stage name of Bournemouth-born producer and DJ Danielle Gooding, who grew up between Bournemouth and Birmingham and is based in London. As a teenager, she taught herself production with Ableton after working in a record shop, where her boss encouraged her to try the software. Her aunt’s garage records and DJ EZ compilations introduced her to garage music. She first gained attention through grime productions and collaborations with MCs, including Wiley, and later worked with Ghetts, Maxsta and Merky Ace. Her music spans UK garage, grime, bassline, hip-hop, house and drum & bass.
Hold On brought wider attention in 2011, and Gooding signed to Butterz in 2013. Her releases for the label include On My Mind, made with Royal-T. She released the EP In the Dance on Formula Records in 2014, followed by the album More Love in 2015. Her collaboration with DJ Q, PS, came out on Local Action. In 2016, she released the DJ mix album FabricLive.88.
In 2015, Gooding formed TQD with Royal-T and DJ Q; the three producers work as a UK garage group. TQD released the album ukg on Butterz in 2017. Gooding’s releases have also appeared on Hospital Records, including the 2025 single Voyager. Her work encompasses production and DJing, with releases for Butterz, Local Action and Formula Records as well as Hospital Records.
Gooding’s full professional name is Danielle Anne Louise Gooding. In 2018, she was XOYO’s resident DJ from July 6 to September 28. Her 2026 releases include Different with D Double E and SKALAH on Maraki Records, and Sunset (Extended) on Warehouse Project Records.
