Koherent took shape when Josh and Luke met in Leeds and brought their separate production projects together. Before the duo, Josh performed as Subdivision and Luke as Precision. Their drum & bass combines experimental production with technical precision, and their releases have appeared on Shogun Audio, Dispatch Recordings, Flexout Audio and Overview Music. An early release was the 2017 single Night Cycles, issued by SGN:LTD; in 2019, they released the single Morph EP on Flexout Audio.
The 2019 Turning Point EP brought collaborations with Charli Brix on “Voices” and Ill Truth on “Samsara”. Koherent also worked with GLXY and Azotix on the Grunge EP, and has collaborated with Data 3 and Klinical. Their four-track Bleep Test EP, released by Overview Music in 2022, marked their first EP for the label. Later releases include the 2025 single Feelings on Overview Music and the 2026 3AM EP on Gemini Gemini.
