At a gig at World Headquarters in Newcastle, Loz Contreras met Macca, after being booked for a one-off set that developed into a residency. The pair later worked as Macca & Loz Contreras, with a production process that often began with Loz sending Macca a sample to build into a track; Loz could then add vocals or more samples. Loz has said that earlier tracks were aimed at gaining followers, not at making the music he wanted to make. In 2014, he and Macca released the single Always Your Lover EP on Fokuz Recordings.
Their debut EP, Lost Origins, came out on Spearhead Records, with vocalist Becca Jane Grey contributing; the duo later made their Shogun Audio debut with the single “Anything For You / In The Mood.” Loz and Macca released the single “You Were Mine” on Integral Records in 2020, followed by “Keep You With Me” with Aperio and Riya on Galacy Records in 2023. Their 2024 single “Recognise” appeared on Four Corners. As Macca & Loz Contreras, they also performed at a Spearhead Records event in London.
