Matrix & Futurebound began working together in 2005, after Jamie Quinn, known as Matrix, and Brendan Collins, known as Futurebound, met while DJing at an event in Belgium. Quinn is from London and Collins from Liverpool; both are British drum-and-bass producers. Their first joint release was the single Strength 2 Strength, issued in 2005 through Metro Recordings and Viper Recordings. Before the partnership, Quinn founded Metro Recordings, while Collins co-founded Viper Recordings with Jaquana in 2003.
The duo’s 2007 debut album, Universal Truth, came out through Metro Recordings and Viper Recordings. Their sound combines drum-and-bass energy with melodic elements and vocals. The pair also released “Control” with Max Marshall, which reached number seven on the UK Singles Chart in 2014 and received silver certification from the British Phonographic Industry.
“Don’t Look Back”, featuring Tanya Lacey, reached number 38 on the UK Singles Chart. Their 2019 album Mystery Machine includes collaborations with Zelah, James Walsh, Polina Goudieva and Alex Hepburn. In 2022, they released the single “Return To You” with Anna Simone and Synth System through UKF. In 2025, they released “On The Beach” with YORK through Armada Music.
In 2026, Matrix & Futurebound released the album MFXX - 20 Years Of Matrix & Futurebound through Metro Recordings and Viper Recordings. The same year brought their remix of Audien’s “Sacrifice”, released as a single through Enhanced Recordings.
“All I Know” features Luke Bingham and peaked at number 29 on the UK Singles Chart. “Magnetic Eyes”, featuring Baby Blue, reached number 24 on the chart. In 2024, they released “All I Know” with MVE through Blackout Music NL.
