Blaine Stranger is the stage name of Sam Lloyd, a drum-and-bass producer and DJ born and raised in Sydney, Australia, and based there. Lloyd began producing music in 2011 and turned to drum and bass after discovering Pendulum, Netsky and ShockOne. His production and DJ sets draw on disco, gabber, hardcore techno and hip-hop. Alongside his own music, he has worked in studios as a mix engineer, handling studio touch-ups and additional production.
Coppa and Mind Vortex helped bring Lloyd’s music to Viper Recordings, which signed Blaine Stranger in 2016. Coppa also appeared on “Rock With It / I See The End,” his first single, released as a Viper VIP single. That year, “Chat Shit Get Banged” appeared on Viper’s Summer Slammers 2016 album. “Mesmerise / Get Down” followed as his first full single on the label’s main imprint. Viper Recordings has remained a central label for his releases.
In 2021, Voicians joined Blaine Stranger on the Viper single “Sirens.” The following year, Solomon France and Venjent collaborated with him on “Rewind.” In 2023, he released the Viper singles “NEV3R” and “Addicted.”
“New Energy” arrived on Viper Recordings in 2024, with Matrix & Futurebound and Tom Cane credited alongside Blaine Stranger. The single followed his two Viper releases from 2023.
