Venjent, the project of London drummer Vincent Welch, developed after he played in bands including Black Futures, later renamed Never Not Nothing. The English electronic and drum-and-bass artist builds bass-driven tracks from sounds picked up in everyday life, using humor and philosophical ideas in the process. “Open the Door”, “Unmask Your Emotions” and “Create Machines” are among the pieces that brought attention to his transformation of familiar noises into music. Venjent has said that self-love underpins his music, expressing the message as “love is the answer.” He has also described a goal of bringing rock-band energy and bass music together in future live performances.
Before and alongside his work as Venjent, Welch co-produced music for The Prodigy, including material on the group’s 2015 album The Day Is My Enemy. He also co-wrote the topline and lyrics for Metrik’s “Immortal”. His work extended to film scoring with the 2020 horror film The Owners, for which he co-composed the score. In 2020, he released the album Venjent Sound on Chilli Tribe Records. R U Guna Move is another album by Venjent.
In 2025, Venjent released Electric Mind (VIP) with Screamarts on Screamarts Music, followed by Turn Me Up with Queen Millz and T & Sugah on High Tea Music. In 2026, he released Reset with Screamarts on Screamarts & Venjent, and Sick of It with Middle Milk on Chilli Tribe Records. His 2026 releases also include World of Warcraft x Venjent, with Blizzard Entertainment and World of Warcraft, on Blizzard Entertainment.
