ONEDER was born in Kakogawa, Hyogo Prefecture, and began making music around the age of 19. Before that, he worked in a hotel, a job he found unsuited to him; after leaving, he entered reggae through rub-a-dub and local sessions. He started performing live on the streets of Osaka and is now active mainly around Kobe, where his work as a singer remains rooted in reggae. His stage name joins “ONE” with “wonder,” words he chose for their associations with being one of a kind and with fascination.
Reggae was an early influence, while Jamaican Rastafari teachings and the Japanese idea of “yui,” or unity, helped shape his outlook. ONEDER has cited Rickie G and LOHOh as musical influences, and Bob Marley as an influence on the messages in his music.
ONEDER helped establish AMI ENTERTAINMENT with friends, and he is associated with the organisation. During the COVID-19 period, he worked on the album Sowaka, which took shape during that period. His releases also include LILAC, produced in full by MEDZ MUSIC, with ARIWA of ASOUND and RUDEBWOY FACE appearing on it. His EP タビノシオリ contains songs he wrote during his travels in Thailand. He has worked with ANSA on a track, and with 法斎Beats and 武 on another. His collaboration with ANSA is titled “Humming bird.” His live performances have also extended to shows across Japan.
