In Perth, Western Australia, Ross Deschamp began making drum and bass in 2001 under the name Rregula. Before concentrating on the genre, Deschamp played guitar in metal band The Dirty Whittler; he has also said he started attending raves in Perth around 1999. In 2003, he joined fellow local producer Phetsta as Bad Robot. Their 2006 track “Forever” came out on Black Sun Empire Recordings, one of several labels to release Rregula’s work. Other label credits include DSCI4 Recordings, Shadybrain Recordings, Climate Recordings, Triple Vision and Citrus Recordings.
Rregula’s releases included the 2009 EP Where Am I?, which featured The Panacea and Silent Witness, and the EP Lode Runner on Mindtech. In 2012, he released the album The Barramundi Experiment. That year also brought the singles “Tuff Luv / Beast” on Caliber Music and “Silverfox / Imprint”, made with Cain Mos, on Fokuz Limited Recordings. Rregula also worked with Hooves on the 2012 single “Dizgo (State of Mind Remix) / Remedy” for Icarus Audio. A 2009 single, “Life On Earth / Insecticide”, appeared on Disturbed Recordings. His 2013 release Lode Runner EP came out on Mindtech LTD. A debut album also appeared through Climate Recordings in 2010–2011. Rregula released the EP Savage.
Deschamp’s work with producer Dementia developed into the project Rregula & Dementia. Their releases included the tracks “City of Dogs” and “Fortress”. Deschamp said he first connected with Rouven de Fehr through Bad Robot and Dementia; he and de Fehr later formed the drum-and-bass duo Zombie Cats after deciding to end Rregula & Dementia. Rregula was active under that name until 2014, when the album Turning Point, made with Dementia, appeared on Citrus Recordings.
In 2023, Rregula and Dementia released the single Echoes from the Future / Payback, featuring Triage.
