From Beckenham in South London, Skepsis is the stage name of DJ and producer Scott Elliott Jenkins. Self-taught, Jenkins began taking production seriously around 2015, after trying grime and trap before moving towards UK bass and garage. Early influences included My Nu Leng and Chris Lorenzo; later, Jenkins named Notion, Champion and Holy Goof as inspirations. A breakthrough in 2015 brought energetic bass music, including bootlegs and remixes, to a wider audience. “Goes Like” helped establish Skepsis in the UK bassline scene before its release as a single in 2017.
That same year, Skepsis released the single “Most High” with Bru-C. Jenkins helped establish CruCast as both a label and a collective, and his music has also appeared on Spinnin’ and Bite This! Four40 Records is another label associated with his work. With Bushbaby, Jenkins co-founded Lengoland, a community project. His releases include the album Faith in Chaos, issued through CruCast in 2021. The album reached No. 79 on the UK Album Downloads Chart, while the collaborative album Pure Bassline 2, made with DJ Q and Jamie Duggan, reached No. 2 on the UK Dance Albums Chart.
In 2023, Skepsis joined Turno and Charlotte Plank for the single “Rave Out”, which reached No. 37 on the UK Singles Chart. The 2024 single “Green & Gold” brought together Rudimental, Riko Dan and Charlotte Plank, and reached No. 29 on the UK Singles Chart. In a 2025 interview, Jenkins reflected on a decade in music and described a shift in his sound from UK bass towards drum and bass. That year’s singles included “Eat It Up” with Carla Monroe and Tinie Tempah, released on Believe UK, and “Corner” with Riko Dan, released on FWD Inc.
Also in 2025, Skepsis released the single “Fancy $hit (Skepsis Remix)” with CID and Taylr Renee on Intercord. His 2026 singles included “Arctic (England Edit)” with Doktor and Tony Perry, released on Ministry of Sound Recordings, and “Out Of Order” with Grace Barton on CruCast.
