Venbee, the stage name of Erin Vemby Anna Doyle, grew up in Chatham, Kent, and began writing songs as a child. Her grandfather taught her piano, and watching him play helped spark her interest in music. She later taught herself guitar. Dyslexia made reading and writing difficult when she was younger, so she freestyled and memorised lyrics. Those early habits fed into a songwriting practice that often starts with guitar before moving towards drum and bass in collaboration with producers. Venbee has described the result as “sad songs you can dance to”, combining personal, emotionally candid writing with drum and bass and pop influences.
In 2022, Venbee broke through with “Low Down”, a single with Dan Fable that gained attention after she shared it on TikTok. That year, “Messy in Heaven”, co-created with producer Goddard, became a major UK hit and reached number three on the UK Singles Chart. Columbia Records released the single, and Venbee has said that signing to the label helped advance her career. She has also credited Rudimental with helping introduce her to drum and bass. The collaboration became part of a wider connection: Venbee later released the single “Die Young” with Rudimental. Other notable singles include “Gutter” and “No Man's Land”.
Venbee released her mixtape zero experience in 2023, with collaborations involving Rudimental and Chase & Status. She is a member of Loud LDN, a collective of female and non-binary musicians. In 2025, she released the single “new body parts” on Columbia. Her music draws on drum and bass, while the songwriting remains rooted in personal experience; she has spoken about developing guitar-written songs into drum and bass with producers. The move from childhood songwriting and piano lessons to guitar-led writing and studio collaborations has been part of her route into the scene. Her work with producers has included both co-writing and shaping songs from their initial guitar ideas.
