Venbee’s five-track EP marks a fresh independent chapter, moving beyond the dance-led sound she’s known for. Its conversational writing turns everyday frustrations into material: “not my day” recounts a run of petty setbacks with wry humour, while “stars (john’s local)” spins a joke about a local pub into an imagined underground rave, reshaped with DJ Jigitz.
The closing “song 2” is a striking change of pace: a personal, non-dance song about hardship in Chatham and the struggles passed through families. The shift gives this self-released collection a candid, grounded feel.
