We present an interview with AnatomiX, one of the headliners of the March parties that have taken place
1. How did your journey into the world of drum and bass begin?
I met a guy in rehab, and he listened to drum and bass. We used to hang out together after the daytime sessions, and I loved listening to his music. It ignited my passion for drum and bass.
2. Who were your first inspirations?
My first contact with drum and bass happened in 1997, when my friend—the owner of a record shop—started a label called Basswerk, and I was crazy about it from the very beginning.
3. How would you describe your musical style?
At the moment, we are trying to experiment as much as possible, and this makes every release different from the others, but overall we love a progressive and deep sound.
4. Where have you most enjoyed performing, and where would you like to perform in the future?
I think Russia will be one of the highlights of our lives. We also played at Let It Roll in 2015, and it was absolutely amazing. We will see what the future has in store for us, but we have a huge list of festivals and clubs where we would like to play.
5. Which artists inspire you at the moment?
We like a huge number of different artists, but the greatest influence on us has come from Black Sun Empire, Optiv & btk, and Current Value, who are also our good friends.
6. What are your future plans? (releases, collaborations)
Actually, a lot of things will be coming out soon. It is a great honour for us to be the first release on a Portuguese label called TrueBass on 24 March, and we will also be releasing a record on Red Light Records soon. Several collaborations will also be coming out, for example with Tobax and Kryptomedic, among many others.
7. What do you like most about the current community, and what do you think could be improved?
We love the worldwide DnB community and are happy to take part in the evolution of drum and bass that has been taking place over the last couple of years!
