Kynetic Sound is a Bristol-based drum-and-bass label run by producer Kyrist. Started during lockdown as an outlet for her own music, it was initially called Kyrist Music before taking its current name after a couple of releases. Kyrist founded the label to work independently and retain control of release timings, while also making space for other artists. Kyrist links the label’s sound to deep, rolling drum and bass associated with Critical Music around 2012, while allowing other styles.
Kyrist’s releases include “Sidestep / Looped” and “Chimera / Space Junkie” in 2020, followed by the “Translation” EP in 2022, which included remixes from Bidl and Infrah. The label’s roster has included Minor Forms, Creatures and Ed:it, and its output extends beyond drum and bass to a release in 140, deep dubstep and grime. Kyrist’s “4MYPEEPS” single appeared on Kynetic Sound in 2026. The name reflects her way of thinking about music through movement and how a track might make people move.
