Santorin is an independent electronic music label in Tübingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, focused on drum and bass, with deep and liquid releases and room for jungle. It was founded in Tübingen at the end of the 1990s by Simon V and DJ Lightwood together with Double J, and was set up to issue Simon V’s tracks and pursue its founders’ approach to drum and bass. Oliver Lichtwald, known as Lightwood, owns the label. The name comes from the Greek island of Santorini, in its German form Santorin, which Lightwood thought of during a brainstorming session.
Artists with releases on the label include B-complex, MC Fava, Simon V and Bungle. B-complex’s single Salad Is Ok came out on Santorin in 2010, while MC Fava and Simon V released Mind Prison through the label in 2023. In December 2024 Santorin issued Bungle’s Invisible. The 2009 compilation Ambassadors 4 – From Amen to Z marked the label’s tenth anniversary, presenting drum and bass that ranged from pop-oriented sounds and old-school jungle to darker and experimental tracks.
By 2009 Santorin had put out 27 12-inch singles, and its 26th release, Flute Tune, received the Future Forum’s Best Track National award. That year the label also announced the imprint Sugaphonic Records. Santorin had set up Santorin-2000 in 2006 for digital releases, and in 2005 it received the future-music.net award for best German label.
