Matia Lenická began experimenting with music at 12, and had started producing by 1996, before turning her attention to drum and bass. Known as B-Complex, the Slovak producer and DJ is from Bratislava. Her early explorations included hardcore, trance, psytrance, downtempo and hip-hop, as well as drum and bass. Lenická has described the genre’s community, along with jungle, as welcoming to her as a trans and bi-gender person. She came out as bi-gender in 2015.
“Beautiful Lies” brought B-Complex wider recognition and opened a relationship with Hospital Records. The track appeared on the label’s 2009 compilation Sick Music, making it her first major-label release. In 2009 she also released the single “Aztec / Girl With Flower” on Dysfunktional Audio. A year later, Hospital Records put out the single “Beautiful Lies VIP / Little Oranges.” Lenická has said that she approaches tracks as stories that unfold over time, rather than shaping them around a formula aimed chiefly at DJ mixing.
Her releases have included the EP Salad Is Ok and the single “Rolling with the Punches / Reflections,” made with Diane Charlemagne. B-Complex also worked with producer and vocalist Ill-Esha as Ill-Complex. The 2015 EP Early Bird came out on Santorin and features “You Better Run,” with MC Fava. “Past Lessons for the Future” became a Slovak radio hit, as Lenická has recounted. For her live sets, she worked with Dramababes, a collective formed to bring dancers into the performances.
In 2021, B-Complex released the single “Not Worth It” on Santorin and “Past Lessons For The Future” on Fridge. The 2025 single “Bloom (B-Complex Remix)” paired her with Bare Up on Soulvent Records, while “Baddies,” with Tanukichi, appeared on Imagine Audio. B-Complex played at Fuchs2 on 7 August 2026.
